Sias Alumni rubs shoulders with world leaders at Boao Forum

Wednesday, April 1 - Members of Sias International Universitys alumni were among the hosts, and rubbed shoulders with a varietyof world leaders and entrepreneurs at the prestigious Boao Forum for Asia, fromthe 26th to the 29th of March, 2015. The Sias alumni who were hosts at theevent were praised for their service, bilingual ability, and their ability toexecute the planned scheduled to perfection.

The Boao Forum for Asia, held on Hainan Island, is anannual event that hosts high-level forums for world leaders from government,business, and academia in Asia and other continents, to share their vision onthe most pressing issues in Asia and the world at large. It is modeled on theWorld Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland. The keynote speech was delivered bythe President of China, Xi Jinping, who attended the opening ceremony as well.He spoke of Asias need to forge its own path in pursuit of its destiny,especially with regard to economic integration and development.

An Shiqian, who majored in Finance, and graduated fromthe Sias Business School in 2014, was a team leader at this years Forumbecause of her performance at the previous years Forum. Her presence wasrequested by the Prime Minister of Singapore, Goh Chok Tong. She wasresponsible for maintaining schedules including arrivals, meals, and otherparts of the daily schedules. Her excellence was even noticed by Bill Gates,the Founder of the Microsoft Corporation and the Bill & Melinda GatesFoundation.

Some of the other guests that An Shiqian hosted were Yasuo Fukuda, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Boao Forum for Asia,former French Prime Minister, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Chairman of theCross-Straits Common Market Foundation, Vincent Siew, Shanghai General MotorsPresident, Wang Yongqing, SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corporation) ActingChief Executive Officer, Yousef Al-Benyan, and Steve Almond, Global CEO ofDeloitte Touche Tohmatsu.

This is the second time that Sias students have beenhosts at the Boao Forum. During the previous Boao Forum there were severalSias students who were hosts as well. This is an example of the the fruit ofSias emphasis on the bilingual ability of its students, coupled with its ethosof Knowledge meets Practice.
